'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles following the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from 25 yards, and the defender immediately converted the rebound before charging toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an incredible turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. During the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win secured a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right defensive wing after they changed tactics. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the City players who praised the way Orient played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're all right and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a strong mentality and focus just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his dad, his father, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I believed I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's so-called player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
