I will overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-bout contest which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the combatants confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former two-time unified boxing king Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge mismatch - at Miami venue on 19 December.

Fighter's Mindset

"I'm going to injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.

"I will dominate him completely. That's how fighters think.

"I will genuinely try to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Civil Interaction

Despite these statements, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - normally famous for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul instead targeted ex Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "a joke" after the Cameroonian rejected a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at British rival Tyson Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he's present here," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Nevertheless, the novice is still one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, consistently making huge paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would derail the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Size Difference

As both boxers engaged in the customary stare-down, with their physical disparity evident, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is actually happening.
